Today we spent some time exploring the property and ended up finding something we weren't expecting.

Down by Whetstone Branch, we spotted an old glass bottle. That one bottle quickly led to another... and another. Before we knew it, we had found twelve old glass jars and bottles scattered along the creek.

My daughter and I stuffed them into the pockets of our overalls and carried them all the way back to the house. Once we got home, we cleaned them up and started researching what they were. It was fun learning where they came from and approximately how old they are. Some may have even belonged to the family that once lived on this land.

It was a simple discovery, but one we'll remember. Finding pieces of the property's history reminds us that this land has been cared for by others long before us. As we begin our own journey here, we hope to preserve those little pieces of history whenever we can.

I have a feeling these twelve bottles are just the beginning of what we'll discover over the years.
